About
Monique Fourie
High school teacher and tutor
Teaching Maths and EMS to Grades 7 to 9 and Business Studies up to Grade 12, and helping with other Grade 7 to 9 subjects. Based in Sonstraal Heights, Durbanville.
I teach high school during the day and tutor learners one-on-one after school. Because I am in a classroom every week, I know what is being taught, how it gets tested, and where learners most often lose marks.
Many learners come to me feeling that a subject is simply not for them. Usually there is one earlier topic that never quite made sense, and everything after it has been built on shaky ground. We find that point, fix it, and then practise until it feels easy.
I keep lessons calm and practical. Questions are always welcome, and so are mistakes. They show us exactly what to work on next.
How lessons usually run
- We start with what the learner brings: homework, a test coming up, or a topic that is giving trouble.
- New work is explained in small steps, with examples worked out together.
- The learner then tries similar questions while Monique watches and guides.
